Saturday Art School: Saturday School is an eight week program at Penn State that occurs the semester prior to student teaching. Undergraduates are paired with a teaching partner and develop a curriculum in its entirety for local students to partake in over the course of the semester. My teaching partner and myself developed 'Overlapping Layers,' that exposed our high school students to a variety of new processes, concepts, and artists. Each project overlapped with the next for students to explore the theme, even if the materials changed. Students were able to create imprint paintings, micro/macro ceramic projects, mono-printing with ceramics, printing with photo-lithography on clay, photo-montages, a collaborative sculpture using marbled paper, and a collaborative painting.
